Children read about them, imagined them, made the bubble mixture and even made their own wands out of pipe cleaners and finally they blew the bubbles!! Spot the bubbles in each picture!
Playground Visit
What a lovely way to finish our first full week back at school. Exercise, fresh air and of course lots of fun!
Happy to be ‘Back to School’
Talented, resilient, brave, calm, responsible – just some of the words the children brainstormed to describe what traits they showed during ‘Lockdown’. They then used these words to create their Courageous Lions for art class. Well done to all!
Sunflower Project
A big thank-you to all the boys and girls and their families for embracing and taking part in our ‘Stay Bright and Cheery Sunflower Project’. Great to see you all so busy planting and caring for your seeds. It is a lovely reminder that although we are all apart we are still a big part of the Murhur N.S. community!
May Altar
Summer is here and the boys and girls are celebrating by making a little May Altar at home to remember our Lady, Mary, mother of Jesus. Normally at this time of year we take a trip to the Grotto across the road. We say our ‘Hail Mary’, we remember our mams and sing some hymns such as “When Creation was Begun” and “Bring Flowers of the Rarest”. We bring flowers and remember Mary is watching over us all the time as a universal mother and when times are hard we can pray to her. Please remember this especially when you pass the Grotto!
World Book Day 2020
We celebrated “World Book Day” in style as usual with some children dressing up as a character from their favourite book! We learned about Irish myths and read Gilín Sneachta as ‘Síscéalta Traidisiúnta’ agus léigh Seán agus Dáithí ‘Cú Chulainn’ dúinn.
Tráth na gCeist
Comhgairdeas do gach duine, ó Naíonáin Bheaga go Rang a Sé, a ghlac páirt i dTráth na gCeist. Bhí a lán glas ann chomh maith. Maith sibh go léir.
Garden Centre Visit
The Junior classes went on a fieldtrip to the Mailroad Cross Garden Centre. Eamon showed them all around the centre and children got such an insight into the amount of work, care and effort it takes to grow plants, flowers and shrubs. A big thank you to Eamon and Julie for facilitating the trip!
Duathlon
Niamh Murphy from Triathlon Ireland started the pupils 2nd – 6th class on an exciting journey to becoming duathletes.
JEP update!
Our Junior Entrepreneur Programme is well underway. After presenting their ideas to a ‘Dragon’s Den’ the hard task was left to Mrs. O’Regan and Ms. O’Flaherty to choose. After tough deliberations a number of ideas were pooled together and all were delighted to work together to try and make a success of the chosen project. We are now down to the nitty gritty of sourcing, pricing and ordering! Many skills are being practised and children are learning a lot about the true value of money, etc.
New Student Council
Introducing our new Student Council! We cannot wait to see what initiatives the new Council has in store for us. They are now the student voice of Murhur NS and are already proving to be fantastic role models for the other pupils in our school.

Confirmation 2020
A great crowd gathered in the Church of the Assumption Moyvane on Tuesday 25th February as 5th and 6th class children were confirmed by Bishop Ray Browne. The church looked splendid, enhanced by all the beautiful Art Work on display.
JEP
Children of 5th and 6th class welcomed their Business Visitor into school recently as part of the Junior Entrepreneur Programme. We are very grateful to Nikita Palmier of ‘Novelty Cakes Moyvane’ who gave her time willingly to chat to the children about her business of cake decorating. She showed them how to create various designs and each child had a hands-on experience of creating their own cake topper! Thank you Nikita for all the tasty treats you brought with you!
