Senior Infants and First Class enjoy making new words!
Some brand new library books! Children were delighted to see some of their favourite authors among the new stock!
2nd, 3rd and 4th kept the autumnal theme going with their forest paintings!
Autumn Art in 5th and 6th class was inspired by the work of Vincent Van Gogh. His painting ‘Into the Woods’ was used as a stimulus for the children to create their own interpretations!
‘The eyes are the window to the soul’ and this is so important these days with much of our faces covered with masks. The pupils of 2nd, 3rd and 4th made their own masked selfies which opened out to reveal their true, fun, talented and energetic selves!
2nd 3rd and 4th made the most of the beautiful Indian Summer during their outdoor art lesson.
5th & 6th had their hearts racing after completing a mile of the school while competing tightly against one another!
Looking forward to lovely colourful flowers in springtime!
The 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes enjoy practising mindfulness and yoga each day. There are various different poses involved such as the Tree, the Triangle, Stretch Armstrong, the Pigeon and the Chair to name but a few! So good for our bodies and our minds!!
Children enjoyed a lesson on Well-being while outdoors on a beautiful sunny day recently. They took a stroll through our beautiful woodland walk, enjoying the scenery while observing the various different types of trees and leaves.
Self-portraits were done for Art class this week! Can you recognise anyone?
Children read about them, imagined them, made the bubble mixture and even made their own wands out of pipe cleaners and finally they blew the bubbles!! Spot the bubbles in each picture!
What a lovely way to finish our first full week back at school. Exercise, fresh air and of course lots of fun!
Talented, resilient, brave, calm, responsible – just some of the words the children brainstormed to describe what traits they showed during ‘Lockdown’. They then used these words to create their Courageous Lions for art class. Well done to all!
A big thank-you to all the boys and girls and their families for embracing and taking part in our ‘Stay Bright and Cheery Sunflower Project’. Great to see you all so busy planting and caring for your seeds. It is a lovely reminder that although we are all apart we are still a big part of the Murhur N.S. community!
Summer is here and the boys and girls are celebrating by making a little May Altar at home to remember our Lady, Mary, mother of Jesus. Normally at this time of year we take a trip to the Grotto across the road. We say our ‘Hail Mary’, we remember our mams and sing some hymns such as “When Creation was Begun” and “Bring Flowers of the Rarest”. We bring flowers and remember Mary is watching over us all the time as a universal mother and when times are hard we can pray to her. Please remember this especially when you pass the Grotto!
We celebrated “World Book Day” in style as usual with some children dressing up as a character from their favourite book! We learned about Irish myths and read Gilín Sneachta as ‘Síscéalta Traidisiúnta’ agus léigh Seán agus Dáithí ‘Cú Chulainn’ dúinn.
