Experiments during Science Week

The Junior Room were investigating objects that float and sink and making predictions! 5th and 6th explored polymers and molecules by completing ‘The Leakproof Bag experiment’.

Team Hope Shoe Box Appeal

A big thank you to all who contributed to the Team Hope Annual Christmas Shoe Box Appeal this year.  These gifts are delivered directly to children affected by poverty in Eastern Europe and Africa.

 

Science Week 2021

The Senior room had a great start to Science Week with STEM activities using Lego WeDo! They showed great teamwork while working together to build their own creations.  They added direction, sound and lighting!!

Juniors, Seniors and 1st were busy trying to find a material to make a suit for Scuba Steve!

Brú Columbanus

Well done to all our wonderful children who raised €300 for Brú Columbanus at our Halloween fancy dress day.

Maths Week Activities

Maths Week got off to a flying start with the Junior room completing a ‘Most Popular Car Colour Survery’  white came out on top! They also learned all about 2D shapes with a 2D Shape Hunt.  Snakes & Ladders also featured in Maths Week activities.  5th and 6th class solved some maths riddles on-line and then went outdoors and explored the concept of 2D and 3D shapes and angles.  Overall, lots of fun while learning!

Woodland Experience!

On a beautiful autumnal morning recently the Junior room children visited the local wood and gathered lots of treasures! They popped into the church on the way and said a little prayer.  On their way back to school they spent a short time in the playground.  A nice end to the school week!

Pointillism Art

5th and 6th class were busy learning all about pointillism and have begun creating Halloween art!!

Congratulations!!

Huge Congratulations to our ‘Super Star’ who came 2nd in the 100m Sprint in the Community Games All Ireland Final.  This was a fantastic achievement.  The whole school came out to give a huge cheer and a round of applause and all were so impressed with the beautiful medal.

Aistear

Aistear got off to a flying start last week in the Junior room. All the children showed great creativity and teamwork as they learned all about The Home through play.  Well done to all.

Children’s Author Interview

Children had a fantastic opportunity to see popular author David Williams being interviewed. During the interview he revealed the names of people on whom some of his most famous characters are based!

First Holy Communion

Congratulations to our First Holy Communion Class who received this very special sacrament on Saturday 18th September.

Thank you to Ms. O’Flaherty, Ms. Curtin and all who helped prepare the children for this very special day.

Our Lady’s birthday

In honour of Our Lady’s birthday on the 8th September the Junior room pupils visited her grotto to say a little prayer.  They also coloured some beautiful pictures of Mary.

Starting back!

We welcomed back all our pupils on Thursday 26th August. There was a special welcome for our new Junior Infants! What a busy first week they had. Senior Infants and First Class did a wonderful job in making them feel welcome! 2nd 3rd and 4th were being very creative in class while 5th and 6th had a lot of catching up to do after the summer holidays!

Achievements of our Past Pupils

Congratulations to all our past pupils who received awards in Tarbert Comprehensive School this year. Micheál Fogarty who received the Badminton Award and Sports Person of the Year Award,  Eamon O’Connor who received the Mentoring Award and Conor Hogan who received the Student Spirit Award and Student of the Year Award.   A wonderful achievement for all of our past pupils. We wish them well in all their future endeavours!
